Your shortcuts in Sri Lanka

Good news for anyone planning a trip to Sri Lanka! From October 1, 2024, the visa requirement will be lifted for travelers from 35 countries, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland. But beware: anyone wishing to travel to Sri Lanka before this date will still need a visa.

The most important things at a glance:

  • From October 1, 2024, citizens from 35 countries will no longer require a visa to enter Sri Lanka.
  • However, a visa must still be applied for by the end of September 2024. As the online application option is currently not available, the only remaining option is the "visa on arrival" at the airport.
  • From October, it will be much easier for travelers, including those from the DACH region, to enter the country.
